Anglers visiting the Outer Banks have a  new fishing resource........

The Outer Banks Fishing School, a division of Schools of Fish, LLC has the mission of  bringing  anglers visiting the Oregon Inlet area (sounds, inshore and offshore) of the Outer Banks together with local experts to teach local techniques on turning fishing into catching. Until now the \"how-to\" on all species has been kept a very closed information loop. Trying to extract tips from locals at the dock or from a worker at a tackle shop often proves to be frustrating or fruitless. OBFS next seminars are two, day long seminars on OBXROCKFISHING, one on Saturday,11/24/07 (Thanksgiving weekend) and then again on Saturday, 12/29/07. Our Sponsors, TW\'s Bait and Tackle and West Marine will be giving away over $500 in prizes. The Seminars will be held at the Hilton Gardens Inn in Kitty Hawk. See our website at www.obxfishingschool.com  for future seminars. Register early and save $15.00. For more info contact Capt. Mark Peters at info@obxfishingschool.com or call 252-255-2004

March 2, 2000 Wildlife Resources Commission Enacts Gill Net Ban

GoFishNC received news today that the NC Wildlife Resources Commission had voted to ban gill nets from inland waters in districts 1 and 2 which includes 25 North Carolina coastal counties. GoFishNC contacted the director's office office today and spoke to Bob Curry to verify the report. Mr. Curry said that the gill net ban would go into effect on July 1, 2001. The commission cited the high numbers of fish caught by the nets that were targeted for restoration efforts. Public hearings also produced overwhelming support for the ban according to the commission.
